Provide technical experience needed to assist in studying the basic principles of plant and animal life; Conduct cell culture, microscopy, and robotics work; Work with staff on performing various experiments and procedures related to differentiation and phenotyping of induced pluripotent stem cell iPSC lines, including longitudinal, automated imaging transmitted light, spinning disk confocal of CNS-differentiated cells; Analyze and organize data and present results in team and departmental meetings; Keep detailed, organized, and accurate digital and physical experimental records; Assists with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures; Collaborate with other team members to carry out large-scale robotic iPSC cell culture experiments; Prepares, organizes, and maintains various lab samples, supplies, and equipment; Maintain and operate microscopy and robotic equipment and related reagents and supplies; Learn new laboratory techniques and procedures; Develop image analysis routines to analyze the effects of disease-associated mutations on cellular phenotypes; Optimize and perform automated iPSC culture and CNS cell differentiation of isogenic iPSC lines; Develop new differentiation protocols for iPSC lines to differentiate into disease-relevant cell types like neurons, astrocytes, and microglia.
Qualified applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Cell and Molecular Neurobiology, Cell and Molecular Biology, or a foreign equivalent.
Qualified applicants must have two (2) years of experience as a researcher or a substantially similar position performing the following duties: Assisting with performing basic laboratory experiments and procedures; Planning, developing, and characterizing assays to conduct research; Tabulating, statistically analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing experimental data; Performing experiments and procedures related to differentiation and phenotyping; and Calibrating and operating laboratory instruments used to perform tests, analysis, and procedures, including liquid handler systems, plate readers, NanoDrop, microinjection equipment, anaerobic hood CO2 incubators, hoods, pipette aids, micropipettors, bench top centrifuges, ultracentrifuges, sterilizers, vacuum pumps, and liquid nitrogen storage
