The Manager Supplier Relations is responsible for managing the Supplier Relations team in support of the National Institute of Health Scientific, Technical and Other Professional Services (NIH STOPS) contract and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases - Professional, Scientific and Technical Support Services (NIAID PSTSS) contract. Guides the activities of the Supplier Relations team members. Mentors small businesses in completion of task order management, recruiting, payroll, employee management, invoicing/billing, travel and other required compliance. Ensures success of the supplier program including management of orders and annual spend.

Essential Functions

  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to each small business to ensure understanding of contract policies, legal obligations and success in performing required tasks. Develop professional, advantageous and lasting relationships with supplier partner representatives. Engage with suppliers and the KG Federal Government Service Center (FGSC) to resolve billing issues, as needed. Develop and present training to introduce new operational requirements and/or refresh knowledge on existing requirements to Supplier Partners.
  • Develop and update Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and checklists, in accordance with changes that occur in process and procedure; communicate changes to appropriate teams.
  • Engage with NIH clients to discuss employee performance issues, recommend strategies for performance improvement, develop counseling/improvement plans and administer plan outcomes. Participate in employee counseling and termination as needed. Perform quarterly audit of supplier performance to benchmark performance and meets individually with each partner to discuss performance and provide coaching/development, as needed. Understand and explain policies related to employment and working with the federal government; interpret policies for talent associated with leave, telework, occupational health and travel questions.
  • Interview, select, and train new supplier relations team members. Coach and guide the supplier relations representatives in fulfilling their tasks and engaging with the supplier partners. Audit orders and processes to ensure compliance. Oversee supplier recruiting activities to ensure compliance with required metrics and success in filling open positions. Review resume submissions, submits to client and acts as a liaison in the presentation and selection processes.
  • Facilitate supplier engagement in the Annual Distinguished Awards program, anniversary recognition events and other employee engagement events. Review the supplier nominations received for Distinguished Achievement Awards and manages collaboration on invitations and tracking.
  • Serve as first level contact for Program Manager related to new order deployment, communications with Supplier Relations Team members.

Requirements (indicate required or preferred)

  • BA or BS in Business or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years’ experience in staffing or service industry. 
  • Experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • This job can be performed anywhere except in the state of Colorado. Colorado residents will not be considered for this job posting.
