9776 - Bioinformatics Scientist
Kelly Services, Inc., seeks a Bioinformatics Scientist in Bethesda, MD to: Coordinate the training of personnel in the use of scientific software applications, statistical software applications, and programmatic software applications. Perform transaction log monitoring, as required by the governing clinical protocols and applicable IT security regulations. Provide support for clinical data and database management in support of National Human Genome Research Institute(NHGRI)/DIR clinical protocols, including use of NHGRI’s clinical database system (Labmatrix). Onboard and train research staff involved in new clinical trials, including the import of a wide variety of legacy data set, providing rigorous quality control of data. Interact with database programmers regarding all Labmatrix troubleshooting and enhancement requests, define programming requirements and beta-testing. Develop custom complex queries and extract-transform-load (ETL) scripts. Utilizing the following tools and technologies: MS Office, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, XML/ASP, Visual Basic (VB.net), R, Labmatrix, and Linux.
Qualified applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, or Genomics, or a foreign equivalent, and 2 years of experience as a Bioinformatics Scientist, or a substantially similar position, performing the following duties: providing technical support to web- based, relational databases used in clinical studies; performing database enhancement, data mining, data validation, data integration, and uploading data; training new database users; collaborating with database developers for troubleshooting and enhancement requests; Extracting, Loading, and Transforming data; and utilizing SQL and Java.
