Reporting relationship: This role reports to the Delivery Manager

Skills Required:

• AWS experience – 1-2 years

Database Administration – Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) AND
Database Operations – Platform as a Service (PAAS)

• RDBMS / Big Data experience – 2-3 years

System/Application DBA – RDBMS platforms like Oracle, SQL server etc. OR
Hadoop cluster administration

Roles and Responsibilities – As an Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for below activities

Must Have

AWS Specific

• Provide DB consulting on Best Practices, Governance, Security Baselines, Performance, Usage Cost and Cost Control Mechanisms etc. for AWS Native databases e.g. RDS, Dynamo DB, RedShift etc.

• Working knowledge of building and deploying VPC, EC2, S3, ELB, Security and Monitoring

AWS/On-Prem DBA platforms

• Configuration, Installation, Maintenance / Patching

• Managing Authorization i.e. users/profiles/roles/licenses & Authentication i.e. AD/LDAP integration

• Performance / SQL query tuning

• Managing environments, backups, refreshes, recoveries and secure connectivity to peripheral systems e.g. TLS/SSL

Good to Have

• Create AWS Cloud migration strategies for RDBMS databases e.g. IAAS or PAAS and then execute the migration

• Scripting e.g. Ansible or Shell for automating admin tasks / self-serve / self-provision / CI-CD

• Managing availability, scalability and usability (performance) through effective capacity and hardware management

• Knowledge / Understanding of Linux administration, Networking and Storage will be added advantage

Process Adherence

• Ensure Compliance with PGS / BU specific SDLC / Execution practices (like defect management, prevention, efforts tracking etc.)

• Provide input for maintaining delivery metrics

• Contribute in release planning and co-ordination

Team

Mentor team members to build application/system expertise in the relevant domain

Other Contribution

Participate in BU level initiatives; Knowledge Management, Operational Efficiency, code jams etc.

Must Have

Education: Graduate Bachelor’s degree (any stream)

Other: Sound technical skills, interpersonal skills, good experience in estimation methodologies, excellent communication and time management skills required. Self-motivated, strong desire to learn and maintain professional and technical knowledge
